z800 z/OS Charges, zELC Compared to EWLC

Note that EWLC Charges are limited by the size of your z800. Based on the simultaneous 4-hour rolling average your monthly charges could be less, but not more than the EWLC shown in this chart. You should view the EWLC charge as an upper bound, while the zELC number is a constant month after month.

This chart represents the base feature of z/OS. Each site must do a full analysis of their IBM products to determine if eWLC is the correct pricing metric for them. Once you choose EWLC you cannot go back to zELC if you did the analysis wrong! The LPAR Capacity and Software Usage Analysis (LCS) tool provides the plannning resources you need for this analysis. The What-If capabilities of LCS allow you to perform your own analysis of your site. LCS will be updated to include the new EWLC pricing model by October 1, 2003. The update will be distributed to all LCS licensees.
