SCRT V18.1.1

Last Updated: Monday, 4 January, 2010

IBM's email “SCRT Version 18.1.1 Fix Level Available” relating to incorrect MSUs for “certain limited environments” provides further evidence of the value of LPAR Capacity and Software Usage Analysis (LCS) Software. Each site should be verifying and auditing their SCRT reports each month before sending them to IBM. Some sites were billed too many MSUs with SCRT V18.1.0 due to this problem. LCS licensees do not need to worry about these problems, as LCS determines if SCRT is calculating the MSUs correctly. I don't know now many sites are impacted by this. What I find surprising is that IBM has all the data in the SCRT CSV files to determine which customers have reports with this problem, but they are asking each site to review their own reports for the past two months.

Reporting has been added to LCS to detect these problems. Previous SCRT reports can now be run through an LCS analysis program and any problems will be identified. The new verification of cross references is added to the normal monthly LCS analysis and reporting process.
